Across Italy, police are cracking down on Ferrari and Lamborghini drivers, but not because they are driving too fast.
Italy, like so much of southern Europe, is drowning in debt, so police are pursuing drivers to make sure they are declaring – and therefore paying taxes on – earnings that would allow them to afford cars worth as much as half a million dollars.
The lesson here is that as a business, you want to adopt antimimeticisomorphism thinking – simply put, think differently to get different results.

If you made a list of New Year’s Resolutions for 2012 – take them out right now and re-commit yourself to following through.
If you’re not motivated – the problem is you have impotent goals and dreams.
You need something that will MOTIVATE, INSPIRE and MOVE YOU TO ACTION.
Pick something exciting, but within the realm of possibility – something you can really get enthused about – something that would CHANGE you and your life.
I know too many “people who end up where they don’t want to be” simply through lack of planning and commitment.
No decision IS a decision – it’s the worst one of all – one made by someone else for all the wrong reasons.
There is no joy in living a life by default. To live a life by design, you need to know what YOU want and desire.
By NOT deciding, all you’re doing is letting yourself down – no one cares that you don’t make a decision. That’s why it’s so easy.
One day leads to a week then to a month and before you know it, another year has passed.
If you get lulled into complacency, a whole decade can pass you buy.
Don’t just sit there – do something!
Anything! If you didn’t create a list of New Year’s Resolutions – do it now!
New Year’s Resolutions… they are aspirational, yet often vague and almost always corrective. People promise to spend more time with family, get fit, lose weight, quit smoking, reduce debt, consume less alcohol… yet just end up cataloguing the failings of the past year. As with most customs, New Year’s Resolutions are observed in gesture only, not followed up nor followed through. It’s a reflexive act rather than one of resolution or commitment.
People have been making New Year’s Resolutions since the time of ancient Rome, when the Julian Calendar was adopted in 45 BC. January 1 was introduced as the first day of the year after the Roman God, Janus (pictured left). Janus was the God of beginnings and endings, represented with two faces looking toward the future as well as the past.
Romans, believing that the gods witnessed the failures and shortcomings of the past year made promises to rectify the situation in the next year ahead.
Not surprisingly, 88 percent of New Year’s Resolutions fail.
One of the reasons is that people tend to make the same ones over and over and over again without conviction or belief they can really change. Statistically, it takes up to 10 attempts to change which is well beyond most people’s attention span let alone level of discipline to make the change a reality.
Alarmingly, research shows that 25% of 1 out of every 4 people give up in the first WEEK.
Most people, quizzed today would not even be able to list all of their New Year’s Resolutions… and we’re not even at the end of January!
So why is the prognosis so poor? One reason is that success is limited, yet most people (wrongly) believe it is achievable (when statistically it’s not – only 1 person can win a Gold Medal amongst hundreds of competitors).
Take quitting smoking as an example: It takes 6 to 12 attempts to stop smoking. One survey in 2008 reported that only 11%, 1 out of 9, people who set that as a New Year’s Resolution achieved their goal and stopped smoking.
There is hope – people who did achieve their New Year’s Resolutions did so, on average after 6 attempts.
To achieve your New Year’s Resolutions, you need a plan, simple as that. Ideally, you write a PLEDGE to yourself and you marshal help from others close to you who can help you.
For example, if you want to get fit, get a buddy to walk or run with you, play a sport… If you want to lose weight, have family members help by reducing fatty or high calorie foods in your meals.
Without a plan, nothing’s going to change.
The odds are stacked against you.

At first, I didn’t buy into the whole New Year’s Resolution ‘propaganda’. Like most people, I was skeptical, cynical and thought it was all rubbish.
Then I met someone who explained that New Year’s Resolutions only work if you believe they do.
That changed everything.
I promised myself I would only pick the top 10 New Year’s Resolutions I believed I could accomplish and really wanted.
My life changed – literally from that moment on.
As I explain in My Best Year Ever Program page – the results speak for themselves, but something you need to know is that it’s a process, a system for me. It’s not just a to do list.
Nothing with me is superficial.
The process I share with you in the My Best Year Ever Program is what I use every single year – religiously WITHOUT EXCEPTION.
I look forward to it BECAUSE I know I can craft my new destiny, my new life.
One of my recent resolutions I can share with you was writing the lyrics for and ‘producing’ my rap album- Curve-A-Ceous.
It was one of the highlights of the year for me. I never dreamt of being a rockstar, but I was always curious about the creative aspect of song writing, producing and performing.
I perform every time I get on stage for my events and workshops, but this was a much more artistically creative endeavour.
Something totally outside my comfort zone.
Something totally different.
It was exhilarating to do.
The reason I share this with you is because life is to be lived to its fullest extent.
Steve Jobs was the epitome of this philosophy.
But so many people – too many people – don’t know where to start.
As per my 1 Percent Improvement Doctrine, I believe in small steps on the path to your ultimate destiny, keeping in mind that…
The journey IS the destination.

The reason I’m blogging about this is because Paddington Pups is not just a doggy day care. It’s owner, Bree Robbins cares about her clients – dogs (and their owners). She makes sure her team takes a proactive role in community based activities as part of their holistic approach to dog care and education.
As I blogged about previously on the Paddington Pups blog, there is a lot to be learned from The Dog Whisperer, but if you want to grow your business, you also need to learn to give back to the community because it’ll come back to you tens time over.

I was recently working with a client, Bree Robbins of Paddington Pups in Brisbane. As her business coach and mentor, we were discussing how she can differentiate herself within her existing product and service offering.
I’m not advocating this is the primary theme, but rather a secondary or additional Pathway to Profit™.
When a dog attends a doggy day care it’s not just about having someone else bear the burden of keeping it for you. There are many socialisation skills your dog will benefit from.
For Bree to become an expert, she needs to start documenting what she already knows about dog socialisation skills. For example:
- What are the steps to proper socialisation?
- How is each one of the steps approached and how do you know it’s been ‘passed’ to move on to the next one?
- What is necessary for each stage to occur?
- What are the variables to be played with?
- What are the most popular conditions to overcome?
- What are the % of the most common afflictions?
- What is the diagnosis and prognosis for each?
- Aggression and unruliness, what are the tell tale signs?
- Sources of the unwanted behaviour?
By documenting her expertise, Bree is able to demonstrate her level of skill and mastery across multiple media, including her blog, direct mail, classes and of course YouTube.
One of the reasons I like to blog is to find and then share stuff you otherwise would never come across on your own. I got this request by email and thought it was a great idea. Sometimes you have to get our of your box and try something new to get a different result.
This is a great idea to raise funds for charity. I share ideas like this with you to show you that when you adopt Exponential Mindset Thinking™ you can and will become more creative and innovative. Exposure to new and different ideas stimulates your Reticular Activation System (RAS) so it gets easier and easier with time. Like a muscle, your brain can be trained to seek out new ideas. Monica and I were in Perth recently for an event we staged for engineers, called Slide Rule Thinking In The Internet Age. We had difficult getting a taxi and walked over to a hotel lobby and asked the concierge to call us a taxi. That’s when limousine driver/owner Graeme Main showed up offering a free ride to the event venue. Of course we accepted. Today’s post is yet another example of how the little things make a BIG difference. As you probably know, I love dogs even though I don’t have any because of my ‘jet set’ lifestyle… Recently, I visited the puppies and dogs at Paddington Pups Doggy Day Care in Brisbane (video below). While I was there, I made a few suggestions to Bree Robbins, Paddington Pups owner and Platinum Program graduate. Here’s how she went…
From ZERO Sales To Sold Out In 3 Weeks
Paddington Pups is a Doggy Day Care and Pet Supplies shop. Since we specialise in dogs, I got my hands on Cesar Millan’s the Dog Whisperer Series 1 and 2 DVD sets to sell at the shop. I was excited to be able to stock these for my clients since I know (first hand) that several of them have training and obedience issues with their dogs.
When I ordered in the first and second series I also ordered a “Display Stand”. I was expecting this to be big so it would stand out. However when it arrived, it was not only tiny, it didn’t say anything about the second series. I was quite disappointed to say the least.
After over two weeks, I hadn’t sold a single DVD series. Now you might be thinking that’s fine but this was the end of November, early December which is the perfect time for people to purchase gifts like this for themselves and/or friends and family.
That’s when Marc came in for a visit and you know what that means – exponential ideas galore!
Marc suggested that I create a bigger, more obvious display to highlight this popular and much sought-after product.
As with anything Marc suggests, I thought about it and discussed it with my husband. Later that night, Ross was on Google looking for a good quality image we could use to create own display poster.
Next he went to our local print shop had the poster printed and laminated in A3 format all for under $50.
Within the next 3 weeks, I sold 4 copies of season one and 6 copies of season two at full price with no discounting. That’s what’s powerful about Marc’s advice. Most consultants would discount the price whereas Marc thinks one step ahead – the ONLY reason no one bought the DVDs was because they didn’t know I had stock. Marc knows The Dog Whisperer Series is a high-value item that is sought after and does not require discounting to sell.
Once I had my new poster up in full view of my clients, several confirmed they didn’t know I had The Dog Whisperer Series with Cesar Millan. In fact, most confirmed what I thought – that they hadn’t been able to find them anywhere.
So not only was I not selling any, I had clients WILLING AND LOOKING for the product I had in stock.
That hurts just writing it. I don’t know about you, but I want to sell as much inventory as I can, as quickly as I can. I consider myself a smart woman, but clearly I wasn’t being smart about this product promotion even though in hindsight it’s self-evident.
That’s what I appreciate about Marc’s advice – not only does he have a view from the ‘outside’, he understands people who buy. His Exponential Mindset is all about making it easy for people to buy from you.

I originally introduced Gerard Spriet of Geelong’s Gym in Victoria to Wordle in a blog post on my Internet Mastery Blog. I thought I was pretty creative with it, creating a Wordle of Power Words from Anthony Robbins Firewalk Seminar… and then to get pumped up for New Year’s Resolutions… But I hade no idea Gerard would have an even better idea… He created one of his son’s classmates’ names and their teacher… WOW! Now that is truly exponential and creative!
That’s when I suggested he create one of all the members at his gym and then it dawned on me to do one of all of the clients, prospects and suspects in our database. Check out if your name is one of the 100 most popular names in our database. If your name does NOT come up, then your FIRST NAME is quite unique – at least LESS COMMON than the biggest names (most frequently found in our database). The size of the name represents the FREQUENCY of the name in the list…

It all started for me with Albert Einstein’s quote “The thinking that got us to where we are is not the thinking that will get us to where we want to be.” That hit me like a two-by-four across the head when I first hear that in my mid twenties…
If you are in your twenties or can remember what you were thinking back then, chances are you were like me – thinking you ‘knew it all’ or at least knew enough…
Boy were we wrong!
So if we have to change our thinking – HOW exactly do we do that? That’s a dilemma and conundrum wrapped up in a paradox!
I was able to make my first quantum leaps (to use some of Einstein’s terminology) listening to Anthony Robbins for Personal Peak Performance Development. It’s important to note that he is a PEAK PERFORMANCE coach, not just a ‘positive mental attitude’ motivator – in fact he hates being called a motivational guru – for a reason.
Motivation is empty – it just gets you fired up with nowhere to go.
Personal Peak Performance is all about knowing who you are and using THAT knowledge to propel you to an outcome, goal or even a life-long dream. In as much as Tony Robbins is great, don’t get me wrong – he is the world’s best at what he does – his teachings, programs, events and products are not enough.
That’s when I learned I needed to triangulate multiple frameworks from other world-leading minds such as marketing genius Jay Abraham, sales master Brian Tracy and spiritual and philosophical mentor Deepak Chopra.
Triangulation in simple terms is like what a Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) does to locate you on the earth – it takes each dimension (x, y and z) and determines where you are along the axis to pin point your exact location.
What I do for myself (and now my clients) is create a continuum of strategies, tactics and techniques along the 4 axes (peak performance, marketing, sales and philosophy) whereby the INTERSECTION of these 4 dimensions is the point where your Exponential Potential is released to give you a quantum breakthrough.
I know it sounds surreal and I guess it is for the uninitiated.
Once you adopt an Exponential Mindset, it’s like learning a new language – you stop translating and start thinking in the new language – only then can you consider yourself fluent… In linguistics, fluency means you can communicate with a whole new group of people who speak that language. In business, that fluency means abundant wealth and success – because you now possess the language of profitable thinking.
I call this antimimeticisomorphism. I even have a website dedicated to having fun doing out-of-the-ordinary things that create extra-ordinary results with the least amount of effort at the lowest cost.
