1 Percent Improvement: Google Search

As a reader or subscriber to this blog, you heard me profess the benefits of the 1 Percent Improvement Doctrine, how little things can add up to make a big difference. Today’s post was submitted by Ray Keefe of Successful Endeavours in Melbourne, Australia and is yet another example that if you improve what you do and how you do it by 1 percent every day, your personal productivity will soar.*

  • Sometimes little things can make a big difference. We find the same thing for component sourcing. The electronic component not only has to exist, but there are other things to also take into account:
    – can I buy it now?
    – in what quantities?
    – is there a penalty for fast delivery or small quantities?
    – are there alternatives that are better on quantity or delivery?

With millions of components to choose from, that can be a very big exercise unless you use the right strategy.

  • I agree – the small things all add up. Unfortunately those not used to adapting have a hard time with these little time savers. I don’t know how many times I have shown people ‘CTRL+F’ as a way to search on almost any windows based program (and how many times I see people NOT using it after I have shown them).

Small improvements have helped the Graffiti Eaters become successful by continually looking at how we operate, and what can be done to make it better. It does help that we regularly face unique challenges that force us out of our comfort zone – this makes the change and adaptive process happen almost organically. Continuous improvement has played a big part in the success of the Graffiti Eaters, now over 35 years strong!
