Exponential Marketing Principles Revealed

Every once in a while I get carried away with ideas, thoughts and what I call distinctions (key tips and techniques that make all the difference in producing results)… Today is one of those days. This post covers what I call the basics of Exponential Marketing for both the NOVICE as well as the VETERAN of Exponential MasterMind Thinking.

Exponential Marketing 101: Mindset

It all started for me with Albert Einstein’s quote “The thinking that got us to where we are is not the thinking that will get us to where we want to be.” That hit me like a two-by-four across the head when I first hear that in my mid twenties…

If you are in your twenties or can remember what you were thinking back then, chances are you were like me – thinking you ‘knew it all’ or at least knew enough…

Boy were we wrong!

So if we have to change our thinking – HOW exactly do we do that? That’s a dilemma and conundrum wrapped up in a paradox!

I was able to make my first quantum leaps (to use some of Einstein’s terminology) listening to Anthony Robbins for Personal Peak Performance Development. It’s important to note that he is a PEAK PERFORMANCE coach, not just a ‘positive mental attitude’ motivator – in fact he hates being called a motivational guru – for a reason.

Motivation is empty – it just gets you fired up with nowhere to go.

Personal Peak Performance is all about knowing who you are and using THAT knowledge to propel you to an outcome, goal or even a life-long dream. In as much as Tony Robbins is great, don’t get me wrong – he is the world’s best at what he does – his teachings, programs, events and products are not enough.

That’s when I learned I needed to triangulate multiple frameworks from other world-leading minds such as marketing genius Jay Abraham, sales master Brian Tracy and spiritual and philosophical mentor Deepak Chopra.

Triangulation in simple terms is like what a Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) does to locate you on the earth – it takes each dimension (x, y and z) and determines where you are along the axis to pin point your exact location.

What I do for myself (and now my clients) is create a continuum of strategies, tactics and techniques along the 4 axes (peak performance, marketing, sales and philosophy) whereby the INTERSECTION of these 4 dimensions is the point where your Exponential Potential is released to give you a quantum breakthrough.

I know it sounds surreal and I guess it is for the uninitiated.

Once you adopt an Exponential  Mindset, it’s like learning a new language – you stop translating and start thinking in the new language – only then can you consider yourself fluent… In linguistics, fluency means you can communicate with a whole new group of people who speak that language. In business, that fluency means abundant wealth and success – because you now possess the language of profitable thinking.

I call this antimimeticisomorphism. I even have a website dedicated to having fun doing out-of-the-ordinary things that create extra-ordinary results with the least amount of effort at the lowest cost.

I am about to publish a bestseller of the same name – via an interactive publishing model involving a small group of contributors that has already spawned a secret website.

As you can see for yourself – this is a VERY different way of doing things… That’s the whole point!

Exponential Marketing 201: Host-Beneficiary Partnerships

Exponential can simply defined as accelerating at an increasing rate or getting faster, faster.

Another way to look at it is to remember your childhood days in the playground – when you first turned the merry-go-round. The first push was the hardest, then each successive push gets easier and easier until you can stand there, effortlessly with one hand (maybe even a finger) and just keep tapping it softly to keep it spinning.

That is exponential leverage – in business its created with what are called Host-Beneficiary Partnerships – simply stated, it’s about getting other people to help you grow your business for free.

Yes – for FREE. Imagine that!

That’s called leverage and the BEST way to become exponential with your marketing and sales.

I teach this concept at our Annual Exponential Business Building Bootcamp as well as to our elite Platinum Members exactly how to develop and deploy these partnerships in their businesses.

Host-Beneficiary (H-B) Partnerships are one of the most complex and difficult Exponential Marketing strategies to deploy.

80% of the partnerships never see the light of day, but the 20% that do, become infamously successful. They are based on a win-win-win philosophy.

The two H-B Partners must gain from the alliance, but MORE IMPORTANTLY – the suspect, prospect or client involved MUST win by getting more value, a lower price or better conditions as a result of the partnership.

Win-win-win.

That being said, Host-Beneficiary Partnerships are not for the novice – they are reserved for the truly committed – the business entrepreneurs who want to lead the pack and never look back. That’s why I don’t spend a lot of time on them in my blogs – they are beyond what can be covered in a free public medium with a diverse audience.

Behind closed doors in workshops and Bootcamps, we can get into the nitty gritty and make things happen – and we do. Forging partnerships that produce hundreds of thousands of dollars of sales and dozens or hundreds of new leads — at little or no cost.

Say it with me… Ka-Ching!

Exponential Marketing 301: Unique Selling Propositions

In as much as H-B Partnerships are the HARDEST Exponential Marketing strategy to implement – the easiest, simplest and most potent of all is the Unique Selling Proposition (USP).

Even though it is the easiest and simplest – for many it’s actually quite hard to define because it requires that you learn and then articulate what

  • Makes you or your company UNIQUE, different, not like your other competitors
  • How and what you SELL. I know this sounds obvious, but ask 100 coffee shop owners what they are selling and 95 to 99 will wrongly say coffee.
  • Last, and most importantly, is the VALUE PROPOSITION you offer to your suspect to turn him/her into a paying client willingly and happily.

Easily said, but the challenge is the articulation of this statement – go on and try to create a 30-second ‘elevator pitch’ that explains all 3 components…

Y’see, it’s easy, but hard to do!

That’s why it’s exponential – the elegance of these strategies is what makes them disarmingly powerful. BECAUSE so few people know HOW to do this, those of us who do know get all the REWARDS from using them.

Exponential Marketing 401: Breakthroughs

You’ve heard the common expression “it’s as easy as 1-2-3″…

I have my own version —“Exponential marketing is as easy as 1-2-3-4.”

4 is where all the rewards are – most people stop at 3.

This is not just semantics – it’s for real.

In Gridiron Football and Rubgy – what yard or meter is the most important?

The first or the last one to score the touchdown or the try?

In business it’s no different.

Most people put in 80% of the effort and get 20% results. That’s why they get dejected, disappointed and disillusioned. They erroneously think that 80% effort = 80% result.

Wrong.

Pareto explained this in the Pareto Principle or 80-20 rule stating that 80% of what you do produces 20% of the results and 20% of what you do produces 80% of your results.

Everyone understands this BASIC principle – it’s as simple as… you guessed it… 1-2-3.

That’s where Exponential MasterMind Thinking comes in with a twist, the proverbial #4 where all the REWARDS lie.

How To Improve Your Results Instantly

There is a debate going on whether I said ‘Know’ 83 or 85 times…

Once again, it sounds easier than it is. It helps when you have a MasterMind Group to help you uncover these distinctions. The concepts of the MasterMind was introduced to the general public by Dr Napoleon Hill in his classic book Think and Grow Rich. Like many classic tomes – the concept was introduced, but the ‘how to do it’, left out.

That’s where I come in as an Exponential Growth Strategist – I am a facilitator, an enabler, a catalyst, a mentor and advisor that guides, prods and pushes people to become the person they always knew was within them. Exponential Marketing Bonus #2: Inspiration

We all need inspiration to get fired up – this video was sent to me by Gavin Buckett, one of or Platinum Members. He is a food safety specialist known as the Gourmet Guardian. This fits into the philosophy and ethos that Dr Deepak Chopra espouses when you tap into the power of the human spirit to amaze, enlighten and expand your consciousness of boundless possibilities.

In a Chinese modern dance competition on TV recently, one very unique couple won one of the top prizes.

The lady, in her 30’s, was a dancer who had trained since she was a little girl. Later in life, she lost her entire left arm in an accident and fell into a state of depression for a few years.

Someone then asked her to coach a Children’s dancing group. From that point on, she realized that she could in fact keep dancing. So, she started to do some of her old routines, but having lost her arm, she had also lost her balance. It took a while before she could even make simple turns and spins without falling.

Then she heard of a man in his 20’s who had lost a leg in an accident. He had also fallen into the usual denial, depression and anger type of emotional roller coaster she herself had experienced. She was determined to find him and persuade him to dance with her…

He had never danced, and to dance with one leg…. He responded as you would expect: “Are you joking with me?? No way!”

She didn’t give up, and he reluctantly agreed thinking, “I have nothing else to do anyway.”

She started to teach him dancing – it was painstaking. The two broke up a few times because he had no concept of using his muscles, control his body and knew none of the basic things about dancing.

When she became frustrated and lost patience with him, he would walk out. Eventually, they came back together and started training – seriously this time.

They hired a choreographer to design routines for them. She would fly high (held by him) with both arms (a sleeve for an arm) flying in the air. He could bend horizontally supported by one leg with her leaning on him, etc.

In the competition, as you saw, they dance beautifully and they legitimately won the competition.

When I watched this I didn’t even realize that she was missing an arm because I was focusing on the guy with only one leg.

    Wow. That is one of the highest value add posts I have ever seen. I especially appreciated the dancing. Next time I feel like its getting too hard I’ll be able to remember that.

  • I loved the inspiration video of the 2 dancers, this inspired me to achieve more with this exponential mindset despite my limitations. It mite take me longer than 1% a day more likely 1% per week but I am determined to have my center stage experience.

  • All summarised and explained so well! Its a great post that not only lets the reader read through, but also see in action the very thing being read about – and how to do it at the top level.

    As far as I am concerned; if you want to ‘STOP’ doing what you should not be doing, find out what it is you dont know you know and then improve on it 1% a day to make the 20% effort result in exponential outcomes: this is the place to be; I say – WATCH THIS SPACE!

    I loved the dancers. How often can it relate to us. It shows us we CAN even- INSPITE of what we may precive as a handycap. Sometimes we think we can’t because “I have a Curtch”. (just as me not having the right spelling is.)
    Instead we can focus on it and catipult over our percived short commings.

    And yes, I did noticed her one armed proformance, however, It did not inhibit her flowing Grace and eligance.

    What short commings do I have that me myself can use to out proform a once limited thought and Thinking.
