This kind of self-promotion is very inexpensive yet VERY EFFECTIVE. If you have vehicles out on the road, you really do need to consider this Exponential Marketing Strategy.

The only thing I would suggest is to put the WEBSITE on the trucks and TEST different ways of saying the same thing – to SEE WHICH ONE gets the most calls/responses.

Sales Tip: Use Metaphors

Metaphors are the best way to tell a story to make a sale. The more entertaining, engaging and captivating the metaphor, the more MEMORABLE it will be so people will REMEMBER it when it’s important – when they are ready to buy from you.

How To Sell More Services

If you’re a service business that is mandated to ‘do stuff’ for clients on an out-sourced basis and you get paid on an on-going retainer basis, you need to know the #1 reason people STOP buying from you or cancel their contracts…

Chances are it’s because you keep them in the dark – I’ve talked about this before when I posted “How you can stop losing sales in 5 minutes“.

But what I didn’t explain is that if you take this concept to the next ‘exponential’ level, you not only keep them informed, but you INVEST the time and EDUCATE them about what you’ve done.

For example:

  • If you optimise Google Adwords, you can let them know the words that have become more profitable, that convert more and or produce more back-end sales. This helps the client create SEO optimised blog posts, sales page content and/or other more effective advertising.
  • If you are a solicitor, lawyer or other legal professional and have come up with a solution to a problem that has been either overlooked or otherwise neglected by others, as part of your research or discovery process, when you explain it to your client, he/she will have a greater appreciation for your expertise and know-how and you will end up with a smarter client.

But most importantly, the EDUCATION is valued by the client and THAT is where the payoff is.

I was speaking with a colleague yesterday and she pointed to a pile of documents on her desk and said “I’ve wasted the past year taking care of refunds, claims and complaints… I hate that work, what a waste…” I then explained that what she LEARNT over the past 12 months was to do the triage of the cases that were worthy of attention and those that are not. By learning this craft, she can now use that in future roles with other clients she consults to – BUT it is a WASTE if she doesn’t use it and it is SUB-OPTIMISED if her clients don’t know she has this skill.

She could quickly and easily create a 1 to 2 page document that explains “How to quickly identify frivolous law suits” that she can then follow-up with “How to get rid of frivolous law suits quickly and effectively”.

So there you have it, a few ideas to think about…

Educate and inform your clients as much as you can and you will reap the rewards.

Whatever you do, don’t keep them in the dark.

If they are kept in the dark, you’ll be out of sight and out of mind PLUS if someone else comes around and turns the lights on, it’s ‘lights out’ for you!

I know some of this stuff is seemingly obvious, but in a recession, EVERYONE is keeping tabs on their expenses and SERVICES are the FIRST to be cut.

They are the first to be cut BECAUSE unless you QUANTIFY the value for your clients, they will never fully value what you are doing for them.

A Presidential Strategy To Help You Sell More

If you were like me, you were transfixed by the 2-year long campaign for the US Presidency. It amazed me how the ‘daily hype’ machine was able to remain ‘on message’ and how the discipline to that single strategy shifted the ground to eventually give Obama the victory.

Being and staying ‘on message’ simply means to re-direct ANY and ALL inquiries, deflections, tangents, objections, rebuttals or questions back to YOUR MESSAGE.

This is nowhere more important than on your sales call or presentation.

How To Write A Great Ad

Today’s post is an example of how to write a great ad. Using vernacular to great effect, The Lone Drainer and Pronto! David Conroy created this ad that well, says it all.

If you’re not an Aussie, you won’t get the play on words, but then again that doesn’t matter since this ad will appear only in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs.

I think it’s a great ad because it plays on words without being offensive yet provocative enough to get people’s attention which is what an ad needs to do. The call to action is simple and straight forward – SAVE 20% before March 31st.

A lot of people don’t know is that there is a cure for a roots problem – a cure that can prevent THOUSANDS of dollars of damage BEFORE it happens.

Many people don’t know – did you know? Now that you do know, aren’t you more susceptible to call The Lone Drainer for an appointment?

When would NOW be a good time? Isn’t 20% off a good enough  incentive?

So there you go – an GREAT AD for your ‘swipe file’!

Double Your Sales THIS MONTH

Want to know how to DOUBLE YOUR SALES THIS MONTH?

Work 120 hours/week ALL MONTH LONG. That’s right, you read correctly – work 120 hours/week ALL MONTH LONG and see what happens.

I speak from experience – that’s what I did (20+ years ago) and it was the SINGLE BEST INVESTMENT I EVER MADE.

Let me tell you what happens.

First, you’ll get though ALL your to do lists and will feel like a friggin’ hero.

Second, you’ll get to stuff that has been holding you back for weeks, months maybe even years.

Third, you’ll start to produce results you’ve never seen before BECAUSE you’re working 3 times more than anyone else or TWICE as much as someone putting in 60 hours/week.

Yeah, yeah I can hear you all the way over here…

“Life is to be lived – not to be worked.”

That is such a lame excuse and great REASON not to produce RESULTS.

BECAUSE what you don’t yet know (unless you’ve done it) is that at 120 hours/week, you get into a HYPER ZONE OF ACTIVITY THAT CAN’T BE EXPERIENCED ANY OTHER WAY.

I’ll give you a metaphor that will prove it to you – Have you ever driven 100 km/hr and then all of a sudden reduce your speed to 50 Km/hr and felt as though you could walk faster?

That is called perceptual contrast.

It’s the same thing with the 120 hours/week. 60 Hours/week is NOT ENOUGH CONTRAST – you have to go WELL BEYOND YOUR CURRENT LIMITS to LEARN the DISTINCTIONS OF SUCCESS.

Give it some thought – it’s NOT a lifestyle recommendation – it’s a TEMPORARY SUGGESTION.
