Five Tips for Increasing Business Productivity

meeting_09Maintaining motivated staff is an integral part of keeping your business running efficiently. You need hardworking people to perform all the actions and duties required on a daily basis. Increasing your business’s productivity is an integral part of growing and creating a lasting impression into the future.

Increasing productivity need not be painstaking, but nor does it happen overnight.

Here are some tips to help increase productivity in your workplace.

1. Use Software Solutions

With the advent of smart technology, if you can dream it, anything can happen. Businesses often fail because they don’t use technology and software in the most efficient way(s).  Specialised productivity software solutions like GlobalX Legal Solutions can help business owners improve efficiency in their workplace.

These tools provide up-to-date information, streamlined workflows and access to a range of data to keep your business current and effective.

2. Have A Communication Strategy

Communication is vital for effective and efficient us of any technology. Information should never be delayed in getting to its intended recipient. We know the adage that information is power, but with technology, information is both leverage and empowerment when put in the proper hands with the proper directives.

3. Invest In Worker Training And Support

Investing in your employees is investing in your business. Maintaining an active and engaged workforce that is capable and efficient will have a positive impact on the output of your team. Employees will be more confident in their duties when they are properly trained and supported in their roles.

4. Planning And Organising

Increasing productivity means having set objectives in place to help you get there. Develop goals of varying lengths to help you reach certain milestones. Set plans for a month in advance, a year in advance, five years in advance and so on. Smaller goals can help you reach the larger objectives, but they need to be put into action and made a priority. Staying on track with your goals will help your business thrive.

5. Continue Evolving

Many businesses fail because they do not let go of their old ways of doing things. Staying current with information and trends will help your business not only stay afloat, but succeed. Allow your business the leeway it needs to grow and thrive in a continually changing market. This is not to stay that you should abandon your business model that got you to where you are, but you should also not let those hinder you from growing and transforming as you need to.

Read Your E-mails

I know this sounds obvious, but it needs to be said. I can’t tell you how many times people get themselves into trouble because they don’t read their e-mails. These are the same people who are subscribed to everything and anything they come across. That is INSANE!

Stop it!

I mean it, Stop it!

You’ve seen the video, if you haven’t click on the hyperlink…

I have elite clients called Platinum Members and I recently spent 4 hours explaining to them the principle of Voluntary Simplicity – simply put, it’s SIMPLIFYING your life so you live it ON PURPOSE so it’s fulfilling, energising and rewarding. The workshop was called how to do 3 times as much in 1/2 the time.

That means GET OFF all those distracting e-mail lists and subscriptions that don’t add value.

We’ve discussed it before – if YOU don’t value your time, no one else will.

Every MINUTE you WASTE or LOSE because of distraction takes you AWAY from your PRIMARY PURPOSE.

I know it sounds pedantic and IT IS – it’s also critically important.

If you are subscribed to 10, 20 or 30 e-mail, newsletter and other subscriptions that are NOT CONVERGENT on YOUR PRIMARY PURPOSE, you are diffusing your effort, focus and attention.

A master archer focuses on ONE BULLS EYE TARGET at a time.

You need to be doing the same.

Go on, unsubscribe from all the e-mail lists, newsletters, blogs and subscriptions that do NOT contribute to the attainment of your goals and purpose.

If they all contribute something, then cull from the least valuable at the bottom of the list to get MORE TIME BACK.

Not sure about this?

Here’s the million-dollar question:

If you have more than 10 to 20 e-mails in your e-mail inbox – you have too many = You’re overloaded.

How can you possibly have ‘CONCENTRATION OF FOCUS’ if you’re pushed and prodded in 10 different directions?

It doesn’t work.

Stop it!

Double your SALES AGAIN!

If you forgot, I recently blogged about how you can double your sales… by working 120 hours/week. Once you’ve given that an honest go, you’ll want to give the reverse an equal effort – work LESS than 30 hours/week.

That’s right – Work ONLY 30 hours/week.

For most entrepreneurs that less than 50% of the time they spend working.

What do you think will happen?

First, you’ll have to pick WHAT to work on that is your HIGHEST AND BEST USE.

Second, you’ll have to PLAN AHEAD a lot more otherwise your business is going to go bust.

Third, you’ll have to delegate a HELLUVA lot more!

Fourth, you’ll have to find something to do for those 30+ hours/week you’re not working!

Try it for a week and see what happens. You’ll be shocked by the lessons learned!

Work 120 hours/week ALL MONTH LONG. That’s right, you read correctly – work 120 hours/week ALL MONTH LONG and see what happens.

I speak from experience – that’s what I did (20+ years ago) and it was the SINGLE BEST INVESTMENT I EVER MADE.

Let me tell you what happens.

First, you’ll get though ALL your to do lists and will feel like a friggin’ hero.

Second, you’ll get to stuff that has been holding you back for weeks, months maybe even years.

Third, you’ll start to produce results you’ve never seen before BECAUSE you’re working 3 times more than anyone else or TWICE as much as someone putting in 60 hours/week.

Yeah, yeah I can hear you all the way over here…

“Life is to be lived – not to be worked.”

That is such a lame excuse and great REASON not to produce RESULTS.

BECAUSE what you don’t yet know (unless you’ve done it) is that at 120 hours/week, you get into a HYPER ZONE OF ACTIVITY THAT CAN’T BE EXPERIENCED ANY OTHER WAY.

I’ll give you a metaphor that will prove it to you – Have you ever driven 100 km/hr and then all of a sudden reduce your speed to 50 Km/hr and felt as though you could walk faster?

That is called perceptual contrast.

It’s the same thing with the 120 hours/week. 60 Hours/week is NOT ENOUGH CONTRAST – you have to go WELL BEYOND YOUR CURRENT LIMITS to LEARN the DISTINCTIONS OF SUCCESS.

Give it some thought – it’s NOT a lifestyle recommendation – it’s a TEMPORARY SUGGESTION.

Let me know if your ‘man or woman enough’ to give it a go.

Onward and upward!

What you are going to learn – IF YOU DO THIS, is where your time is wasted and how you can become MORE efficient and effective with your time. Your brain (and body) is going to get tired and will star to find EASIER, FASTER ways to get the SAME or MORE amount of work done WITHOUT compromising RESULTS.

The sports analogy is simple – I’ve been training/playing squash 2 hours/day for the last 2 weeks. Today, My partner had to leave ‘early’ and we only played for 1 hour. At the end of the hour, we both realised that it was the ‘easiest’ 1-hour of squash we have played in a long time.

Perceptual contrast – it’s massively powerful. Give it a go and post your comments on this blog – I’ll give you personal insights and suggestions offline if you do!
