Quite a few people have been asking me for advice to improve their websites. So here are the 5 quick website makeover tips I recommend to give your website a profit or traffic ‘face lift’. They are disarmingly simple and easy to implement and require NO BOTOX!
Website Makeover Tip #1
Get a powerful headline front and center on your home page. You simply cannot afford NOT to have one.
Worried about how to create one? You can attend our Killer Kopywriting Workshop or you can just STEAL ONE that you like from another website and tailor it to your product/service!
Start collecting great headlines that you come across and within a week or two you’ll have AT LEAST ONE that will be better than NONE. This is called creating a ‘swipe file’…
Website Makeover Tip #2
Use landing pages instead of your homepage to have people ‘land’ on your site so you can have a DIRECT and TARGETED conversation with each segment of visitors.
Website Makeover Tip #3
Start a blog. If you don’t know what blogging is, get your hands on this FREE Exponential Blogging 101 Audio Program.
Website Makeover Tip #4
Make sure you have a Unique Selling Proposition (USP). If you don’t know what a USP is all about, you really need our Internet Mastery Silver Massive Momentum Membership Program that start at $97/month, because for that amount, you’d save $500 to $1,000 per month with the tips, techniques and strategies included…PLUS you’d know all about the PULLING POWER OF A USP.
A USP is what will make people COME TO YOU AND BUY FROM YOU automatically and systematically – rather than you trying to sell to people who don’t want to buy from you.
A USP is not a headline, it encompasses what makes you UNIQUE, HOW and WHAT you SELL and the VALUE PROPOSITION which is WHY people should buy from you and not someone else…
Website Makeover Tip #5
Get rid of any additional clicks that are in-between the headline and what you want people to do; be it buy, opt-in, register, download a file, watch a video or listen to a podcast. Too often, whiz kids put flash media and graphics to ‘wow’ themselves and make sure you feel like you got value from paying them so much.
The reality is that flash is just that – FLASH. Even though you do want to create an ‘experience’ with your website, if you’re trying to sell, SELL. If you are trying to educate and inform, EDUCATE. If you want them to opt-in, then motivate them to OPT-IN.
I know this sounds simple, but it’s far from it – egos get in the way – usually the webmaster who designed the moving video graphics at 2 AM last night!
So there you have it – 5 quick website makeover strategies that are the BASIC STARTING POINT. Anything else becomes secondary. If you have already given your website a facelift – stay tuned for additional revenue-generating or traffic-creating ideas!
